We've had some CNN polls released today showing the following in some important states:
Ohio: 47 - 45
Iowa: 55 - 40
Minn.: 53 - 41
Good news, but Ohio is still too close. The reason:
"In Iowa and Minnesota, white voters are backing Obama. In Ohio, white voters are supporting McCain. What about those blue-collar white voters that were so important for Clinton in Ohio? They're pretty solidly for McCain," Schneider said.
Also note that these polls were conducted from August 31 - September 2. So we have the Obama bounce and the Palin effect.
Also, we have a great result from North Dakota, showing Obama up 43 - 40. And this poll was conducted before the hugely successful Democratic convention.
And for for numbers nuts, the folks at electoral vote have the national picture at 278 - 243, with Virginia at a tie. This is before factoring in the above polls.
