According to CNN, an aide has taken this position, that the Palin administration in Alaska will not help in the investigation of Sarah Palin.
I have not too much to say about this, other than what we have seen so far at the REpublican convention, the attacks by Romney on the "liberals" and the growing drumbeat of criticism of the "Media" as Jeffrey Toobin just hightlighted, is absolutely ironic, given the close relationship John McCain has had with the media. Toobin says, McCain has even called them his "base."
I hear a criticism of the "elite media" (whatever that is, and perhaps Daily Kos is included in that) sounds like the ghost of Joseph McCarthy. When you go after the press as a bloc, you sound anti-intellectual, arrogant and ignorant.
If Sarah Palin's administration in Alaska is refusing to cooperate with the investigation of her, and uses the "leftist liberal media" as an excuse to hide the facts about her, we are dealing not with a perky, young governor, but a dangerous reincarnation of another who attacked those who write and analyse news as it happens.
That person was Joseph McCarthy.
A person who is not educated sufficiently to do the job she would like to do, a person whose intellect does not reach the level necessary to encompass the information or experience necessary to run our government, who therefore really opposes the idea of government, is not ready to govern.
Many of us here on DK are not "eastern liberal elite." In fact, I am sure some of us are really not having the greatest time dealing with the economy created by the last eight years of the Bush administration, and you wouldn't call us "elite" if you saw us on the street.
I fear a return of McCarthyism, as Ms. Palin whines about the "liberal elite media."
I hope that this is not what we are looking at, and I believe we should not be intimidated about writing what we are thinking, and how we feel and what we believe is happening in this United States.
