Newt Gingrich is relentless, appealing and convincing rhetorically. Some might consider him a smart Rush Limbaugh and that's generally not good for Democratic candidates. Until today. In an otherwise forceful and hard hitting condemnation of the Democratic contenders and unwavering support for Sarah Palin, Newt of all people, lets slip his preference for the next commander in chief. Apparently a reporter had recently asked him if he's comfortable with Sarah Palin potentially becoming the nation's commander in chief. He told a small Minneapolis crowd:
If I had to wake up tomorrow morning and my choice was Senator Obama, Senator Biden or Governor Palin.... I would tell you, with ZERO reservation, I would be more comfortable with Senator...GOVERNOR Palin".
See for yourself at C-SPAN.org, if you search today, at about 26 minutes in the first result "Former Speaker of the House Gingrich spoke at a breakfast at the University Club of Saint Paul" you'll get yourself a good chuckle. Note, Real Player or compatible .rm player required.
So Newt, you were unmistakably inclined to say who was really more qualified. I can't tell if you were going to say Obama or Biden, but I could almost hear the voices in your head scream D'OH!
Way to go Newt! You crack me up baby! BWwahahahahaha!
