In my last diary on dkos i warned that Gingrich was behind Mccain's debate strategy and that McCain would try to dump the damage of the bailout bill on dems and obama.
The politics of the bailout has made me understand why democrats lose elections even when the issues are in their favor.
Days before McCain suspended his campaign Newt Gingrich was predicting that this mess can be dumped on Barack Obama if McCain votes against this bill.
The argument:
Put Obama on same page as George Bush on Corporate Bailout
John McCain revolts against George Bush
McCain runs ads with Bush and Obama lunching together after a meeting on the bailout.
Voila, Obama is in the pockets of corporate America and wasteful of taxpayer money.
You think i'm making this up?
This is Newt Gingrich on this issue:
He said the interesting break to watch will be whether or not Republican presidential candidate John McCain votes for the bill. "And either McCain will reluctantly go along, and I think [Barack] Obama is clearly going to go along, or you’re going to see McCain decide much the way he did with picking [Alaska Gov. Sarah] Palin that in fact he’s a genuine maverick and he genuinely defends the taxpayer and this is a terrible bill," he said.
"If the latter happens, I think you will see, overnight, the emergence of a McCain-reform wing of the Republican Party and you’ll see House and Senate members siding with McCain by overwhelming margins. And then you’ll be in a very different political environment. I mean, all of a sudden you’ll have Bush-Obama ads on the one side, and taking on the ‘Bush-Obama establishment’ on the other side and that will be, frankly, one of the more amazing elections in our history."
I warned that republicans will try to dump the damage of the bailout on democrats and obama because they will lose big in november if they don't. in doing so i quoted Newt Gingrich saying obama could be tied to bush on this bailout if mccain come out against it.
people told me to go to bed or find something productive to do.
well, you tell me why house republicans kept quiet until the "white house conference to voice opposition after one week of tough negotiations".
Now we all know that Gingrich was behind this.
Wake up, Republicans are playing a game with us to dump the damage of this bill on dems.

Andrea Mitchell, NBC Reporter
MSNBC's Morning Joe
Andrea Mitchell said on MSNBC's Morning Joe that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich,, worked very hard behind the scenes to kill the bailout plan, despite issuing a statement that he would have supported the legislation if where still in Congress
Mitchell Said:
"I am told reliably by leading Republicans who are close to him. He was whipping against this up until the last minute.... Newt Gingrich was telling people in the strongest possible language that this was a terrible deal, not only that it was a terrible deal., that it was a disaster it was the end of democracy as we know it that it was socialism, and then at the last minute comes out with a statement when the vote was already in play"

Not to mention this Freudian slip by VP nominee Sarah Palin
everyone will be watching to see how McCain votes" to which Katie presses, "Why will everyone be watching to see how McCain votes and not Senator Obama??
Obama is being set up, and it's a sad day in America when the president plays games with the voters on this issue.
Of course this is all speculative but I ask, why are house republicans holding back on the bill?
Why are republican key lawmakers contradicting Reid on a compromise?
Republicans are unethical, win at all cost party. I rule nothing out when it comes to them.
