I've seen this mentioned in some comments, but not in a diary, so forgive me if it's been done.
Last night, Rudy said:
For — for four days in Denver, the Democrats were afraid to use the words "Islamic terrorism."
I imagine they believe it is politically incorrect to say it. I think they believe it will insult someone. Please tell me, who are they insulting if they say "Islamic terrorism"? They are insulting terrorists.
My jaw dropped. Partner's™ jaw dropped. We sat there looking at each other. We looked back at the screen, at the thousands of roaring, drooling white people, clamoring for more. Approving that message.
The message that 1.5 billion people, 21% of the world's population, are far worse than terrorists.
Does that include this one...?
15 months ago: ARLINGTON, VA - MAY 27: Flowers adorn the grave marker of a slain Muslim American soldier in "Section 60" of the Arlington National Cemetery May 27, 2007. Section 60, the newest portion of the vast national cemetery on the outskirts of Washington D.C, contains hundreds of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Family members of slain American soldiers have flown in from across the country for Memorial Day.
or this one...?
How about these Iraqi children? All worse than terrorists?
why are we there to save them, then? Why not just get out and leave them to their fates? They're all worse than terrorists, right?
Rudy...?
I can tell you, hearing this asshole, this strutting failure, condemn every Muslim in the world with a callous, tossed-off "red-meat" quip, to the thunderous acclaim of the Republican Faithful, on prime time - makes me ashamed of my country. It makes me cringe.
We waited to hear the stunned, shocked response of the pundits, of the reasonable people who would also condemn such naked bigotry - but all we heard were crickets.
And the crickets were sobbing.
