Since the McCain campaign has done such a marvelous job in vetting Ms Palin, Press has to do their job for them as we have witnessed in the past few days.
We already have evidence that she was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it, but as we all have learned, again in the past few days with no thanks to the McCain campaign, Sarah Palin's appetite for pork didn't start in Juneau. She had hired a federal lobbyist, with connections to Abramoff nonetheless, for Wasilla, AK population 5,469 (2000 census).
Now The Washington Inependent (via Andrew Sullivan) has got her hand-writing on Wasilla's records, boasting that they "did well", securing the pork. Picture here.
It's past time to ask the McCain campaign if they knew of any of this, when they were touting her maverick-tude.
But still it's interesting to see how shallow their vetting was, and also it's good to know who we are dealing with. -Although I think we got the picture yesterday.
Still: "We did well"? That what she thinks? I suppose they did.
Getting $1.2 million for storm water treatment and $605,000 for pedestrian pathways from the state in addition to -as she boasts, "nearly one million Dollars from the Feds for our Airport Paving Project".
They did well all right. I'm not so sure about the rest of us.
