I know this is not rare in today's world and some working mothers [my own sisters included] have studied at different schools in getting their degree. But for someone who is a 72-year-old heartbeat away from the Presidency?
Okay, okay, okay. There are some very fair and decent arguments against my diary. I respect your opinions. So I wanted to top post the most important facet of this story.
McCain didn't vet her. He just didn't!
THAT is the story. I graduated in 3 1/2 years from a state school. That doesn't mean I'm more qualified than someone who did it in 4. Or 6. The story here is that McCain's first executive decision was flippant and made with little to no information on who just may lead the free world, should something unforseen happen in his Administration.
Why did she finally decide on journalism as her major at the University of Idaho? I'll let her tell you:
I was always asking everyone the questions, and I still am today.
Sounds like she is still asking questions. Let's not forget she's been studying really hard for the last four days sequestered from the country. Hope she was asking the right questions.

Did the McCain team check with any of the schools to ask for transcripts? Say it with me, guys...
There was no indication any of them were contacted as part of the background investigation of Palin by presidential candidate John McCain's campaign
Wow. Just wow.

I do not mean this as a personal attack. But her higher education is RELEVANT. We want to know how her worldview was shaped as a young student.
And. AND...the McCain team did not request any school records. Are you effing kidding me??
And on a day when Rep. Westmoreland says Obama is "uppity," it's even more relevant.
P.S. Westmoreland is a college dropout.

jcbdem points out she only went to 4 schools, since she returned to U of Idaho for a second time. I've updated the title to reflect that.

Ok, I'm getting some pushback on this. I agree we can levy broad side attacks on Bridge to Nowhere, tax increases in Wasilla, hiring a lobbyist to get pork for the town, etc etc etc. But I am sick and tired of the country wanting their leaders to be "just like them." They shouldn't be!
We want exceptional people for exceptional jobs. This is not a popularity contest. This is not a pep rally. I demand to be treated like an adult voter and demand my leaders have depth and policy knowledge.
Think this is along the lines of the Elitist meme? Well, let's pushback on what an eleitist really is.
Cindy McCain wore a $300,000 outfit to the convention. Elitist?
Leftcoaster has a strong point:
Elitism is pulling yourself up by your bootstraps being raised by your single mother on foodstamps, getting scholarship to Columbia university and graduating with honors, then graduating from Harvard Law with honors again and being president of Harvard law review.
