Cpl. Matthew Stanley died in Iraq in 2006. About a year ago, his mother gave John McCain a bracelet in his memory. Johm McCain wears that bracelet to this very day. He told us tonight that not a day goes by that he doesn't look at it and have it remind hom of this fallen soldier.
Great story. I applaud John McCain for recognizing one young man's service and sacrifice.
I only hope that John McCain could have a reminder of the sacrifice of our troops for each and every one of the talented men and women who have given that same sacrifice for this country, not to protect us from terrorists like Osama bin Laden, but so we could occupy an oil-rich country that never attacked us. Let's Jump...
So tomorrow, it would be a kind and selfless act for each of us touched by the loss of a loved one, friend, neighbor, or acquaintance, to send John McCain a bracelet in honor of that heroic sacrifice. So tomorrow, please, let John McCain know that you too are thinking of someone who has given selflessly for this country, to the limit of selflessness. Show him your commitment to Country First™; show him that you too recognize how we must achieve Victory In Iraq™, however that may or may not be defined.
And just to show him how willing you are to put our national interest above your own, let him know how many clls you will make, how many doors you will knock, and how many dollars you will give, to see a future that honors the sacrifice of these honored dead.
And for which candidate you will be doing all that. Because certainly it won't be Hundred Years McCain. Criminy, not even his mother knows what 100 tears in Iraq looks like; not even she knows what 100 years anywhere looks like.
