So I know everyone is overloaded with new information, and conventioned out, here are a few light observations from my kids to make you feel better.
My 8yo and I were leaving his soccer practice as Cindy was talking. Oh damn, there you have it, I'm a soccer mom. Anyway, something was said about McCain having 7 children. My little man in the back seat says, wow, he has 7 kids, how old is he anyway? I said, 72. Wow, no wonder he looks so wrinkly and he has 7 kids. Then he says, can someone be too old to be president? I said, well, only if the people won't vote for you because they think you are too old, there's no law that says someone is too old. He says, so even someone who is like 85 or something like that can be president.
Then in the middle of the speech, I realized my 12yo was watching it. I said, so what do you think bud? He says, well, I don't really understand much of what he's talking about, but he sounds like he is just saying what someone told him to say and he doesn't really mean it. Then he said, do we live in a democracy or a republic? We had a nice conversation about what that means, then he says, who picked those names, Democrat and Republican, because don't you think it's weird they used those words?
Then a little while later, my 8yo was talking back to McSame on the TV (wish I could remember what he said) but when I said, hey bud, you are talking to the TV. My 10yo daughter chimes in, well, Mom it's just like you last night when that Sarah Palin lady was talking. You were yelling at the TV. Like mother like son, he learned it from you :-)
Have a nice night.
Hmmmm.
