hi folks. i am a long-time lurker here, but have recently registered and not all that familiar with the way this board is set up and all the protocol that goes along with it, so i apologize if i am running afoul of any rules. i am sure the sentiment has already been expressed, but i would like to thank Sarah Palin for further energizing an already energized Democratic base and pushing Independents and moderate Republicans over to the Obama-Biden ticket, a ticket with vision, inclusiveness, leadership, humility, responsibility, and respect. cont'd...
i think many of us felt a sort of ennui after the primaries, and received a bucketful splash of ice cold water, waking us up and reminding us that the real enemy -- ignorance and hate (which the GOP proudly displayed this week in their weeklong diatribe against "community organizers," code words for you know what) -- still lurks out there. they are angrier and filled with more hate than ever before.
we must triumph this election by helping with gotv ops, voter registration drives, poll monitoring, canvassing, et al. we officially have less than two months now, and it is clear that nothing can be taken for granted. Sarah Palin is literally a meaningless pawn in all of this -- a decoy. Barack is already sending foot soldiers, rooks, and knights to barricade the false Palin pawn front. we have to focus on the ineptitude and massive incompetence of John McCain and decades of failed Republican rule. we have to get the memes out there: the GOP is the party of homogeneity, stale ideas that have never worked, and Rovian and Machiavellian tactics to maintain power and wealth.
President Bush and the GOP have presided over the largest explosion of debt and financial deterioration in our nation's history. 9/11 happened on the GOP's watch. the GOP lives to wage war, but does not know how to win them. Osama bin Laden still remains at large. the flailing economy is the product of failed GOP policies. the first decade of the 21st century, left in the hands of the GOP, has brought only misfortune, and the worst is yet to come if left in the incompetent hands of the GOP any longer. McCain is now doing the bidding of the far right of his party. he has no plan to get us out of the hole he has helped to dig America into. why would the American people want to put their hands in the fire again?
why haven't we seen this in an Obama ad yet? forget Palin. she is a red herring. McCain is on the top of this ticket. i'm sure i am not the only one who fell into a deep slumber after his speech last nite (i am not saying this for effect, i really did fall asleep). i, for one, cannot stand the sight of him and his rigor mortis constipated look and the way he talks through clenched teeth. he is a spineless puppet figurehead. we have to re-frame and take control of this debate -- and win it on the merits and facts. i think we need to make the print and televised media accountable, and each candidate accountable -- but let's focus on the laundry list of failed policies, products, and results of decades of GOP rule. the GOP is the party that refuses to learn from its mistakes. but 21st Century America deserves fresh ideas, competence, and informed, responsible leadership.
sorry, i needed to get that out of my system and into yours.
note: apologies for mistakenly posting this as a comment in another thread.
