It would be carried by all the news organizations, of course. The pundits would breathlessly ask if he had "crossed the line." We've already been told how many times we can't question a man who "lived in a box." We can't ask if he respected the rules of Rick Warren's Saddleback forum and that we could not dare challenge the honesty of a "prisoner of war." And finally Jay Leno asked how an adult man could not remember how many houses he has and instead was reminded that at one time there were no houses. Or kitchen tables. Or even a chair.
Now it's time to see how much of this he has left.
Tonight Rachel Maddow gave the Obama campaign their narrative for the next week. When the McCain/Palin campaign tells a lie, to call them on it. Simple, right?
Obama has never called John McCain a liar. Barack has too much class and self-respect. The farthest he fought back against Clinton was a hard rebuke during the South Carolina debate:
"There was a set of assertions made by Senator Clinton as well as her husband that are not factually accurate."
That was being gracious against a national figure and the former leader of the party he was asking to lead himself. But now it's time to close this out. So the next time you hear the same three lies reported, you punch back hard against them.
John McCain is lying to the Ameircan People.
The charge that Senator Obama authored two memoirs, but not a single major law or reform? Lying.
The Lugar-Obama Cooperative Threat Reduction.
Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006
Honest Leadership and Open Government Act
Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Prevention Act
Senator Obama wants to raise your taxes? Unless you happen to be a corporation or the richest 1% of all Americans...Lying.
Obama will cut taxes for 95% of Americans..
Senator Obama has never worked with Senators on bipartisan legislation? Lying.
The Lugar-Obama Cooperative Threat Reduction Bill Richard Lugar R-IN
The Obama-McCain Climate Change Reduction Bill John McCain R-AZ
The Comprehensive Nuclear Threat Reduction provision Chuck Hagel R-NE
Amendments to the 2008 Defense Authorization Bill Kitt Bond R-MO
PRESTO! A handy cheat sheet for the three most common lies spread by the McCainPalin camp. Hell, you heard them for three straight days in St.Paul. They will not stop spreading them unless we fight back. For all the talk of not letting them Swiftboat us again, I'm surely not seeing any high level surrogates come out aginst this in the MSM. And I don't mean Reid and Pelosi on Larry King at midnight. This needs to be attacked daily until they stop lying.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Want some other lies from today's McCain campaign stop? Okay, here ya go;
"You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was acquired by her predecessor and sold it on eBay -- and made a profit!" McCain declared in Wisconsin at a campaign stop on Friday.
Except she didn't sell it on eBay and she didn't make a profit. She lost the state of Alaska $300,000 on the venture. John McCain was lying.
John McCain callas Sarah Palin a maverick who cut taxes. Except she didn't. She raised taxes as mayor of Wasilla and left behind a $20 million tax burden when she left office, roughly $3,000 per resident. She also cost Wasilla an additional $1.5 million for the sports arena land deal due to bungling the deal and not buying the land outright.
She was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it.
Palin was on John McCain's annual Pork List and he called her pet projects "objectionable." Makes sense since Palin hired a lobbyist connected to Ted Stevens [actually, his former chief of staff], who was chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Palin's own words about pork projects for Wasilla?
"We did well!!!"

Remember, the McCain campaign says this election "won't be about issues." John McCain's website opens to a video that tells you he was a POW within fifteen seconds. POW!
