In my entire adult life (since I've been old enough to have a political opinion), I've never seen such a sickening display by some members of the American public as I've witnessed over the last week. A virtual unknown with no real political experience, no foreign policy experience, a scandal-filled career, a plethera of lies and an (apparent) inability to give an intelligent interview to the press reach almost iconic status and popularity in the hearts and minds of a vast majority in this country.

Sarah Palin's nomination is an insult to this country. It validates for me just how much John McCain and the Republican party think about America. And their battle cry is "Country First"? At 72 years old, I'm sure he's considered the fact that he may not be around to complete a full term. And the best he could do as a vice presidential pick is Governor Palin. This is a woman who has flip-flopped on a multitude of issues including being an advocate for the Ketchikan bridge in her home state of Alaska until realizing it would be politically advantageous to oppose it. A woman who feels unless a woman's life is at risk - abortion is NOT an option - even in the case of incest or rape. A woman with a special needs child yet she cut funding for families in Alaska with special needs children by 62%. A woman with an 80% approval rating as Governor of Alaska; yet 87% of the population admitted they feel she was directly involved with Trooper-gate. A woman who billed her own state for family trips and spending over 300 nights in her own home. A woman who feels God sent us to Iraq rather than an idiotic president who had no real proof WMDs existed.
The polls indicate the Republicans have surged past the Democrats since Palin's pretty face de-planed in Dayton last week; unknown to most Americans. However, she was embraced like the Prodigal Daughter home from a long journey. Many assumptions have been made as to why Palin has had such a meteoric rise. She has rallied the Conservative base in a way McCain could have only dreamed of. And as I suspected, the Republicans are playing dirty ball yet again.
Whenever Obama, Biden, or the media mention anything about Palin and her political history, her highly controversial views...it's all viewed as sexist, personal, insulting. The top media news channels are even receiving emails expressing contempt for researching Palin's background. My God this is a political race! When has the consideration of the opponent's feelings or the media doing their job ever been a rule of the game?
The election isn't even about McCain vs. Obama anymore. It's Palin vs. anyone who opposes her with McCain riding the cape of his Superwoman as they continue to preach to the choir about all the "change" the two of them plan to bring to Washington. McCain, a man who voted along with GWB 90% of the time. A man who doesn't know geography. A man who proclaims we'll engage in war for the remainder of the century. A man who wants to leave our troops in Iraq....if it takes 100 years. A warlord who thinks middle class is a person making $4.99 million. A man whose Campaign Director, Rick Davis, is an uber-lobbyist!
Davis ran McCain's last presidential bid. He also founded a lobbying firm - Davis, Manafort Inc. -- which has made at least $2.8 million lobbying Congress since 1998. Mr. Davis, while working with the McCain campaign, has also managed to procure a fat internet services contract for the campaign and kept lobbying for clients whose interests were opposed to McCain's own policy pronouncements.
With all this, McCain is leading in the polls. Americans don't want change. They want more of the same. More politics as usual with McCain and Palin in power on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Even today with only 50 some odd days left before Election day, there are still voters out there who claim they just can't bring themselves to vote for a "black" man.
If Americans base their vote in November solely on racial prejudice knowing full well who the better man for the job is....I hope they realize their narrow minded, ignorantly biased warped views will cause an entire nation to suffer. Haven't 8 years of suffering been enough?
I hope they all can live with that...
