I don't know why I did it (well I do but really regret it) My husband and I left our 17 yr old home alone for 4 days to pick up our other child at college.
Its probably an all too common story but please take heed if you have a teenager or soon to be.....
Reasons we left our daughter home alone:
#1 This is the last time our son will need a ride from Montana to MN so we planned some scenic detours in the Black Hills.
#2 Our daughter is an A stdt, never been in trouble, has a close knit small group.....was going to be very busy while we were gone.
#3 We have neighbors on both sides and all down the block who knew she would be alone and planned to check in on her and also her friend's parents.
ONE reason I almost didn't leave her was the fact that I recently adopted a sweet, very fearful terrier mix who I love dearly. But he's made progress with fear issues, has my other dog for a friend and is not afraid of my daughter.
I swore I would NEVER leave my children alone as teenagers. I think we only left our son once the summer after he graduated high school. But left her for reasons 1-3 above.
I know she is not perfect, but I truly blieve that she has not done that much partying. She swore she would never have a party here because of how out of control they get.
PARENTS!!!! None of that matters once a few kids find out someone has the house. I'm sure many of you are saying, "well, duh". But for anyone else.....
Oh yeah, my beloved rescue dog? He got out and is now gone who knows where. My daughter looked for him all last night and today. I got home from our trip 2 hours ago and have not stopped looking.
Please pray for my poor rescue pooch and never, ever, ever leave your teenager alone.....ever, ever.
