ROBERT GIBBS: I was told that — that K Street had a copy of the Baucus plan, meaning, not surprisingly, the special interests have gotten a copy of the plan
Everything that could go wrong with health care can be summed up with three words: THE BAUCUS PLAN.
The CBPP just came out with their analysis of Senator Baucus' Health Care Bill. Read it here. It's ugly. Is this the result of painstaking months of work? How tone deaf can one be? Don't forget, Senator Baucus is leaving the door open to more Republicans compromises.
How can anyone take so much time and only compile a bill with all the WORSE aspects and unintended consequences of reform? This bill only proves the Reagan mantra of "Government is the problem and not the solution." Baucus faux-us has become the Republican's trojan horse.
How the Baucus Plan gets it all wrong: (How Baucus f**ks us)
making the American dream reachable only to those who are already wealthy.
- Biasing Hiring and Firing Decisions Against Low-Income Workers
The proposal would make it considerably more expensive for employers to hire workers from lower-income families than workers from higher-income backgrounds to do the same job.
exacerbating anemic job losses - just invite the vampires into our house, heck let's make a vampire house party!
- Leading to the Loss of Jobs
CBO noted that this proposal " could therefore have a much larger impact on employment than a substantially smaller play-or-pay fee affecting a broader base of workers. Moreover, the employment loss would be concentrated disproportionately among low-income workers
making discrimination legitimate, tying it to the bottom line: profits...
- Employers Generally Will Be Able to Discern Which Job Applicants Are More Likely to Be Low-Income
the employer will know exactly which ones he or she has to pay extra for, because the employer will be billed for them by the government or the health insurance exchange. This could influence employer decisions on which employees to let go when employers are reducing their workforces, since these employees will cost more than others to do the same work.
bringing out the worse in government, creating debilitating insecurity...
- Creating Administrative Complications for Employers
-Employers would need to maintain ongoing data exchange with state health insurance exchanges. Worker turnover would further complicate matters, and likely lead employers to dispute various billing charges from the exchanges.
-In addition, as CBO warns in its analysis, employers may not know how much they owe until they receive bills from the exchange, which could create uncertainty and make financial planning more difficult for them.
so I am an employer, which employees cost me the most? It would make Hard working americans look like welfare cases in the eyes of employers...
-Moreover, the monthly or quarterly billing of employers by the exchange would constantly remind them how much these employees are costing them as compared to other employees, something that would be intrusive and not helpful to these individuals’ job tenure.
I thought Health Care reform was supposed to make our system better, NOT worse by creating income equalities? This bill is NOT democratic and NOT legitimate! We can spend some time today pushing back against this joke of a bill by:
- Pointing out the unintended consequences of this bill.
- Label this plan as the Republican Trojan Horse for destroying health care reform.
- Lobby the democratic members of the Finance committee (except Baucus) to come up with an alternative - yes, mutiny would be great.
- Create talking points as to why this bill is so bad.
- Take a stand against this bill so that President Obama will not praise the efforts of the "Gang of Six"
- Read, retain, tell others about it.
- Remember, this is in addition to NOT having a Public Plan.
Here it is again:
Employer Requirement in Baucus Health Package Would Have Unintended Effect of Discouraging Hiring of Low-Income and Minority Workers
Krugman defends the public plan. (should be called Medicare Choice)
Reid: Gang of Six not acting in good faith.
The Trouble With Max Baucus: It's Not The Plan, It's The Planning
This is the weakest link in all the proposals to date. The republicans could not have done a better job: make health reform fail, while not having to attach their name to it. I know it is only one of five, or the half of what is coming out of the senate. This bill is dumping pollution to the Health Care reform waters. The republicans can use this against us if anything in here is used!!!!...
SENATOR BAUCUS HAVE YOU NO SHAME????????
The Baucus Plan: Of the Insurance Companies, For the Insurance Companies, By the Insurance Companies, so that the downtrodden shall finally be perished from the earth.
