Cheney is outrageous. From Thinkprogress.org:
Cheney: It ‘Always Aggravated Me’ That The NYT Won A Pulitzer For Exposing Warrantless Wiretapping
Discussing the wiretapping program on Bill Bennett’s radio show today, Vice President Cheney called the program "important," adding that it "always aggravated" him that the Times was rewarded for its reporting:
CHENEY: What happened then was they had the information we had, they knew how we were doing it, they knew what we were producing through that process. But then when -- Nancy Pelosi, for example, was part of that group. But then it became public. The New York Times broke the story I think in December of ‘05, won the Pulitzer for it, which always aggravated me.
Even the Bush-friendly AP is reporting on the need to prosecute these crimes:
Democrats seek criminal probe of Bush 'abuses'
Although you have to love how they put the "air quotes" around ABUSES. Assholes.
But did you ever wonder why "Impeachment was off the table"? I know I sure did, and a lot of people here did. And why was it Pelosi telling us this, and making being so firm about it? Why was Pelosi defending the crimes of the Bush administration, coming up with the bullsh*t excuse that it was more important to pass minimum wage legislation than to prosecute high crimes and treason?
Well, now we know. I mean, we always knew but now that The Dick is leaving office, he can let it fly. Sure be interesting to see what else comes out in the next few weeks and months.
This is also why Conyers, after building the case for impeachment and prosecution, suddenly dropped it after the 2006 elections.
Pelosi thinks she can get away with this. And she probably can.
But I say we throw her in jail with the rest of them.
These people took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. They broke that oath. They are guilty of criminal activity, there's simply no getting around it.
Pelosi is a criminal. She needs to go to jail.
Along with anyone else who covertly conspired with the war criminals to break the law, to usurp the Constitution, and to obstruct justice.
That's a lot of guilt right there, and it's just the beginning.
Nancy, I hope we can come after you.
By the way, here's one Constitutional lawyer, courtesy of Olbermann, who says that Obama will own the crimes of Bush if he doesn't prosecute:
Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley told MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on Monday, "We now have President Bush speaking quite candidly that he was in the loop, we have Dick Cheney who almost bragged about it. The question for Barack Obama is whether he wants to own part of this by looking the other way."
(snip)
"There's no real question that crimes were committed here by {Obama's] predecessor," concluded Turley, "and he can either begin his administration as a man of principle, and allow the law to take us wherever it may lead, or he will inherit the same type of moral relativism that really corrupted the previous administration. I'm going to say a silent prayer for principle."
Are we a nation of laws, or a nation of men (and women)?
