Why an Obama Presidency befuddles me
Let's start out by telling you who I am
I'm 19 years old
I started getting interested in the world around me at large when I was about 13 or so. I started getting heavily into politics when I was about 15 or 16.
For all of that time George W Bush has been President. I was only vaguely aware of Bill Clinton through the Simpsons and by hearing jokes about the Lewinsky Scandal in late night tv shows and standup routines
There are conflicts and situations in the world and when the President addresses them he affects them. All of the time in my life when I was politically aware I have been with the mindset that that affect would be destructive. I was always worried that Bush would screw something up and cringed when I thought about it
Now we have a situation where Barack Obama, a competent man, will be exerting his influence in order to better the situation. He may not always succeed, but he will be a net force for good.
This is befuddling to me. My mind, matured under George W Bush, almost can't understand this, and I will probably needs months in order for that to sink in
What do you think about that?
