Hopefully we will eventually reestablish Investigative Journalism rather than the silliness of most current news "commentators."
I now get most of my news from CSPAN (first-hand information without the bias) or go to the sources online to stay informed.
Now that the repressive era is passing, I hope that we can replace news "commentators" with news "reporters" who report news rather than those who try to generate it and entertain" us with their silly banter and biased remarks.
Since the Sinclair Group bought the huge block of media they have attempted to "balance" reporting by injecting opinions of individuals from the far right even though these opinions fly in the face of all available factual information. There has been little regard or respect for factual or truthful reporting since the days of Cronkite.
I heard a couple of the "green" reporters on CNN making fun of Wolf Blitzer for not being animated. I prefer the deliver of Wolf Blitzer because he is credible and does not inject himself into the story...even though he is usually in the thick of the action.
We have slipped into an era of "silly" news characterized by blank faces reading monitors, with giggles and banter between their "newsreads." They appear to read whatever is handed them as the news of the day. Their comments are often contradictory to what they are reading as their sophomoric giggles fill the air time. They often appear to be so enthralled with being in front of the camera that they forget the mission of reporting news.
Hopefully now we will be able to return to serious journalist reporting instead of the pablum that currently passes for news.
Among those who don't seem to realize that the public is fed up with the current situation are Katie Couric and Cameron Brown.
Couric's coverage of the Inauguration with sniping remarks showed her bias toward our newly elected President and his cabinet. She apparently tried to "generate" news by asking if Biden and Clinton would be able to get along. She made snide remarks with a smile on her face throughout her coverage of the Inauguration.
Brown also displays a sniping immature attitude. She made "cutsey" remarks about Michelle Obama'a dress while giggling with someone named Gloria. I changed stations.
I much prefer to watch CSPAN without the bantering opinionated coverage of most of the commentators (I no longer call them Journalists). Exceptions are Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper. They appear to take their jobs seriously.
I sincerely hope that we can return to unbiased journalism rather than having to watch commentators inject their opinions into every event.
