I am not a huge Nancy Pelosi fan. At all. And I'm a HUGE Barack Obama fan. I'm all in on Obama. I've fallen hook, line and sinker...whatever the hell that means.
However (and you knew there would be a however there, right?), I wholeheartedly agree with Nancy on rolling back Dubya's tax cuts on those making more than 250K.
The argument against has mainly consisted of, "We're in a recession! You don't raise taxes in a recession! You don't create hardships in a recession!" WTF?
Here are the reasons it is a WTF? situation:
1. IF the recession is inflicting a true hardship upon you, YOU WON'T BE MAKING 250K A YEAR! Therefore, you won't have to worry about it! It won't affect you!
2. If you make over 250K a year in this shitty economy, you're not at the top of my worry list. Don't even get me started on the bullshit Ronnie Reagan-Howdy Doody-Bill Kristol-Dubya trickle-down shit. Seriously. Don't start.
3. We need the damn money!
4. Dubya instituted them. Name one thing that Dubya did right. Rollback his entire eight years without even looking, and I guarantee you can't go too far wrong.
5. The rich are clinging on for life like the rest of us. If you think that giving them extra money is going to prompt them to go hire a bunch of people, I have a case of Iraqi WMDs to sell you.
6. Think how many financial-industry people make over 250K a year. Are you in the mood to keep giving them big tax breaks?
7. We're probably going to be in a deflationary period for awhile. 250K will be a lot of fucking money in a deflationary period. YES, even if you live in SF or NYC.
C'mon Prez, let's do this. It's the right thing to do, and it will be another oh-so-sweet reminder to the weasly Repubs that you won.
