Yes, the plane has been diaried .here, I'll refresh below, but follow me through.
This first week in office has been pretty good and Republicans are already going ape shit... that is a good sign that we are on the righ track. The latest display of reason and power burth through last night.
As we may all know by now Citigroup, a finanical firm that has taken $45 - 50$ billion in bailout money decided to buy a new $50 million private jet. Perhaps idiots running the firm that thought this was a good idea is why they are in the crapper. Anywho, lots of uproar and such for much of the day yesterday after the story broke. Well, today Citi is singing a differnet song afer speaking with the Obama Administration
I am surprised every morning when I read the news. To have a president who knows what the right thing is and who is able to get things doned. This is just something I am not use to after the last 8 years. The latest example happened last night. It seems that people in the Obama Admin called up Citi over the private jet after Gibbs said the Pres disproved of the purchase. The administration called with a simple messgage for Citi..."FIX IT!"
That's all it took, well I am sure there was more to the converstion, but essentially that is all it took. Citi is no longer blowing $50 mill on a private jet. In a statement released this morning that is featured on the ABC NEWS, the company said,
"We have no intent to take delivery of any new aircraft."
more from ABC News
The high-flying execs at Citigroup caved under pressure from President Obama and decided today to abandon plans for a luxurious new $50 million corporate jet from France.
ABC News has learned that on Monday officials of the Obama administration called Citigroup about the company's new $50 million corporate jet and told execs to "fix it."
I like this simple straight foward talk that seems to get things moving...
----Last week we leanrd that Merrill Linch CEO droped some crazy dough on decroations for his office... stupid stupid stupid, Obama called out the CEO in a presser and now we find out that he is paying it all back.
----Republicans cry and cry over stimulus, Obama say's, get over it I won... They know they can't beat the stimulus package and if they fillerbuster it, they dig thier hole deeper. They take the slap in the face and move on.
----And it has all seemed so simple. I know the comning days won't be as easy or perhaps they will, but I think Obama's new Treasury Sec. has put a little fear in the hearts of the GOP and Wallstreet with all the regulations and oversight he wants to implement. The power of having the American people on your side cannot be overstated too. We are all helping this sweeping change by our support alone.
Sometimes it is that simple. Sometimes all it takes in an effort. Sometimes I wish I didn't get so thrilled about little news bits like this cause it highlights just how bad the last 8 years were.
