Karl Rove seemingly thumbing his nose at congress and the rule of law came on the O' Reilly factor to discuss the stimulus and his legal problems. After O' Reilly and Rove have a hate fest on the stimulus bill and democrats, Billo asks Karl about the subpoena issued to him.
Heres The Video
He is already claiming that he will not show up to the committee hearing Rep. John Conyers is holding. This is just a continuation of Rove's policy of continually giving a big F-you to congress and the rule of law. If any normal American had been subpoenaed to testify before congress and didn't show up they would be held in contempt immediately and thrown in jail. It's amazing how he can sit there on national TV and say I won't fulfill my Subpoena.
Rove has previously refused to appear in response to a Judiciary Committee subpoena, claiming that even former presidential advisers cannot be compelled to testify before Congress. That "absolute immunity" position was supported by then-President Bush, but it has been rejected by U.S. District Judge John Bates. President Obama has previously dismissed the claim as "completely misguided."
"I have said many times that I will carry this investigation forward to its conclusion, whether in Congress or in court, and today's action is an important step along the way," said Rep. Conyers. Noting that the change in administration may impact the legal arguments available to Mr. Rove in this long-running dispute, Mr. Conyers added, "Change has come to Washington, and I hope Karl Rove is ready for it. After two years of stonewalling, it's time for him to talk."
Of course on the Factor Karl ran around the questions and alluded to a partisan witch hunt against him. This however is a complete lie. There are a number of scandals that are directly linked to him that still require answers. He has done his best to avoid testifying but with the Bush Administration leaving so did his only legal defense against testifying. Rove had stonewalled congress by claiming executive privilege. However, since its a new administration which will refute any use of executive privilege he will now have to answer to the American people for whatever he has done.
What bugged me the most last night was how candidly Billo joked about hiding Rove at FOX. Also how he blatantly attacked Rep. John Conyers. Who has done well representing his district in Michigan. I hope congress holds Rove in contempt and this guy is taken away in handcuffs. Justice needs to be served.
