I apologize if this has been diaried, I didn't find anything recent in the search and how did I not realize this was up for vote? Some right-wing loons have brought a measure to the ballot to reject the domestic partnership law passed by the legislature. I was so focused on Maine I didn't realize this is happening in my own back yard!
If you live in Washington state, CAST YOUR VOTE NOW! Be sure to vote APPROVED ON REFERENDUM 71 to protect the domestic partnership law.
(While you are at it, vote NO no Initiative 1033.)
I received my ballot in the mail today. I didn't think there was going to be anything of note in there... In fact I had in mind that I probably wouldn't even bother.
I opened it up and to my surprise I see this Ref 71 entry. Reading it is like deciphering ancient greek. From the measure, I couldn't tell which way I was supposed to vote.
Why can't they make it easy and ask "Do you want everyone to have equal rights?". But it never works that way. I had to do some research and based on a few sources, I have determined I am voting APPROVED to preserve the domestic partnership law. A rejected vote will keep the law from taking effect.

So again, vote APPROVED on ref 71. Cast your vote now if you have your ballot. Tell your friends and family. It's an off election year so turnout is paramount!
