Well Stephen Harper, Canada's Prime Minister, is taking over where Bush left off. While Obama spoke in front of MIT today about the imminent threat of Climate Change, and investing in new technologies to battle climate change, the Conservative Government of Canada, was scheming on how to sabotage the Copenhagen talks that will take place in December. This is so shameful to most Canadians, aside from the 36% who vote Conservative.

Hope is vanishing that a historic deal to address climate change can be concluded in Copenhagen, and Environment Minister Jim Prentice says the best chance is for a political agreement that would pave the way for a treaty to be signed later.
But Canada will continue to insist that it should have a less aggressive target for emission reductions than Europe or Japan because of its faster-growing population and energy-intensive industrial structure, Mr. Prentice said in an interview Thursday.
Really Mr.Stephen Harper?? Canada's population is growing so we shouldn't have to lower our emissions? Canada is the least densely populated country in the world. That has to be one of the most pathetic excuses I have ever heard. Come on Mr.Harper, say what you really mean. You think along with many other right wing idiologues, Global Warming is a hoax that will get in the way of oil profits.
Harper goes on stalling by blaming China and India.
The Harper government has been criticized for undermining the global talks by insisting on smaller reductions for greenhouse gases than other developed countries, by demanding that emerging economies such as China and India agree to binding caps on their emissions, and by not tabling a plan for meeting Ottawa's own targets.
But we can't pin all the blame on the Conservative Government, there is some more blame to spread around.

Federal Liberals say they won't support the NDP in its effort to push a private member's climate-change bill through the House of Commons on Wednesday.
The proposed legislation, called Bill C-311, the climate change accountability act, sets strict targets for greenhouse gas emissions and is currently being considered by a House environment committee.
The committee has asked for an extension of 30 sitting days to review the bill, a request that will be considered Wednesday when the House sits.
So basically the Liberals have been taken over by Micheal Ignatieff, like a Conservative Democrat, from Stephen Dion, an environmentalist, who put the environment as the priority for the Liberal party. Since Ignatieff has taken over, he has spent his time appeasing the companies in Alberta's Oil Sands.
It is really hard times right now for progressives in Canada, now the tables have turned and we look at the Americans with envy. The only thing we can hold our head up high these days is our Universal Health Care System.
So what should Obama do with Canada? Hold his feet to the fire on Climate Change. Also, he shouldn't reverse the "Buy American Clause" that Harper keeps harping about. Harper thinks he can have his cake and eat it too. He thinks he won on the Buy American provision. I hope Obama up stages Harper on Climate Change.
