Apparently NBC'S White House "reporter" Chuck Todd set off something of a firestorm this morning when he made a claim infering that the WH still isn't behind Harry Reid's Healthcare Bill.
Todd said that the WH told Reid not to come crying to them when he failed to get his 60 votes, basically shoring up previous media claims that the Administration doesn't support Reid.
Subsequently the press lit up like a Christmas tree over Todd's statement.
However the WH sent Nancy De Parle out to once again contradict what Todd and others have claimed and renew the statement from the WH that they are behind Reid 100%.
And then, as seems to be what always happens, the "reporter" (in this case Chuck Todd) "clarifies" what he said.

You see, Todd said the White House said it, but he really didn't mean they said it. Get that? I mean, that's what he wanted them to say, but they didn't actually say it. I mean, they might have said it---but they didn't. Perhaps they wanted to say it, but ugh..., well..., um...THEY DIDN'T SAY IT!!!!
Jeez, Todd can't understand why everyone went all "literal" on him when he was really just giving his interpretation (read: slant) on what he was actually told. I mean, "reporting" facts is just so damn boring. Where's the fun in that? I mean, we are all pundits under the skin, right?
Memo to Chuck Todd: Shaving the goatee shows your face. Shaving the truth exposes your other face.
