A celebrity has offered to donate $1 Million to Lance Armstrong's cancer fighting organization, Livestrong, if he reaches 1 Million followers on Twitter by 12/31/09.
I've seen this community respond to similar good causes in the past with $$$'s, here is a chance to raise some serious money by simply agreeing to receive some text messages from someone.
For those who don't know, twitter is a social networking site. People can text messages (tweets) which are sent to anyone who "follows" the author. It is free to join.
Drew Carey (yes, the Price is Right Drew Carey) has put a challenge on his twitter page that he will give $1,000,000 to the Lance Armstrong Foundation (Livestrong) if he reaches 1,000,000 followers by 12/31.
He gained 10,000 followers in one day after making the announcement that he would donate $100,000 for 100,000 followers. Amazed at how quickly he was getting followers, he has now upped the amount to $1 Million.
If you have a twitter account, take the plunge. Some of his tweets are hilarious.

If you don't have a twitter account, its easy to setup. I follow a large number of news tweets and find it a quick and easy way to keep informed on what it going on with many of my favorite people/websites. If you setup the account on a computer (vice a handheld device), you only get the tweets when you login (so no further reading is necessary).
If you don't like Drew Carry, follow him anyway. You can always stop following him after he gains 1 million followers.
