On the day our president wins the Nobel Peace Prize the dreams and prayers for global peace and harmony are at the top of my thoughts. As a part of the 200th birthday of Charles Darwin this past March the Shrewsbury Folk Festival organised the Darwin Song Project, a songwriting retreat in rural Shropshire. My friend Krista Detor was one of eight songwriters invited to participate. Here is her wonderfully reflective contribution to this project: "Clock of the World"
"But somewhere bells are ringing
Somewhere someones marrying
Or a casket someones carrying
A crowd somewhere is gathering
Somewhere a bell is marking
What is passing and sublime
Like the clock of the world
Keeping perfect holy time
Krista's words sung by these beautiful voices...I'm awestruck at the amazing power of music to touch our souls, to heal and bring people together.
