Such ignorance in those words. One could wonder for days why people are so ignorant to the world around them, and never figure out anything.
These words were spoken to me as I was praising Obama and his accomplishments during his term so far. It later turned into a verbal fight of who's right and wrong. Then, as if the conversation couldn't have become more depressing on my part, the person simply screamed in my face, 'Obama only got the Nobel Peace Prize becaus he's BLACK.'
And, that, was the end of it for me.
Obama cannot fix in ten months what was destroyed for more than eight years. He is not God, as so many say he preaches to be. Obama is human, he has flaws, he does not know the final outcome of his term, but he does know that what he wants is 'Change,' and whatever form that change comes in, it will be better than what we had before.
Obama didn't expect to change the world in ten days, he even said upfront that he would never be able to do it overnight. Those that say he's failed at everything he's done thus far are no more than idiots promoting bigotry.
"I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures that have been honored by this prize," he said. "I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century."
Obama could have been greedy, and pompous over this award, but what does he do? He is humbled. Obama states he did not deserve this award.
Looking at all of these ignorant minds from the other side of the pond I can tell them there is no end to the good that Obama has done for international relations and the role of the U.S. in it since being elected to the Presidency.
If you look at the list of previous awardees you can see it is not only for work accomplished but for the message of peace and hope. After 8 years of Bush/Cheney trying to plunge America and the world into endless war, Obama has boldly told the world we have made a huge turn towards this peace we desire, and need. It will take time and hard work by all but my deepest congratulations to the messenger and the message.
