Front Pager Jed Lewiston's Diary today has an interesting report on the popularity of the concept of a massive federal jobs program, even among Republicans in the South, heh.
Hey, bubba! You want a freakin' job?
HELL yeah!
Sign 'em up, Barak! Put us ALL to work, PLEASE!!!??? ...Building out the new green paradigm!!!
Oh, and about those corporate executives, and their hacks and politicians....you know, the ones who "make" over $250k a year?

Front Pager Jed's Diary already has 137 Comments as of this posting, and it's only half-way down the page.
But the Comentary is...better than usual, I think. Worth wading through.
Part of his story includes some polls, which can be fascinating...if tricky, heh.

My own choice comment (dressed up a little) was:
Like so many polls, part of this one in his report seems totally clueless (or disingenuous) as to the real issues that really matter:
Issue Favor Oppose
Tax cuts for businesses in order to
save and help create jobs. 75% 20%
Income tax cuts of $500 for individuals and $1,000 for couples
for most Americans. 72% 22%
It matters a lot, how you word the question, and which questions you ask, if you want to get a real picture of what people actually think and want.
For example, "tax cuts for businesses...to save and..create jobs"? Give me a break. As if tax cuts, to Big Business especially, go anywhere but into the pockets of the execs and "owners"...
it would be more correct to ask whether those companies and execs should be allowed to pass tax increases on to the consumer, or whether those added costs for making their obscene profits should come out of the hides of the corporate perks budgets, and the bonuses to execs and investors.
Those taxes should NOT be allowed to just be passed on to consumers, and taken out of the hides of lower tier workers with cuts in benefits, pensions and wages.
I think, if anyone bothered to ask, most people with a brain would say yes, cut the taxes and red tape for struggling small businesses, but raise the taxes substantially for big business and their execs...and make them really pay, and DO NOT let them just take it out of our hides somewhere else.
Similarly, where is the question re: that key element of Obama's explicitly stated campaign promise, repeatedly reiterated since taking office, that personal income taxes should be (more) substantially increased for any annual income over $250k, and (more) substantially lowered for the other 98% of us?
Oh yeah...and we want healthcare, too.
Go figure...nobody cares what people might think about THAT, right???!!!
Let's get real here. Do we really "need" to have "incentives" that bring out the worst in people, encouraging them to be murderously greedy traitorous anti-democratic pigs?
What about incentives like justice, and peace, to save the planet? Those should be subsidized and incentivized...but corporate and executive actions that do not serve the public interest should have their corporate charters revoked, their execs arrested, and all corporate and personal assets seized, for reallocation to the public interest.
I'd vote for that.
I am sooo looking forward to 2010 and 2012, when we will purge and suppress the right, democratically, electorally, to establish a Progressive Caucus coalition super-majority...to cut off at the knees the "discussion" and sabotage, so we can surge forward into the 21st Century.
Bring the Better Democrats!
Seize the Power!
All Power to the People!
All Out for 2010 and 2012!
