To the young in age and the young at heart, I welcome you! I've been a bit lonely, being under 18 and all, so I decided that I wanted to reach out and meet some Kossacks my age or close to my age.
So, let's talk. Are you procrastinating your homework right now, like I am? Are you at college? Where do you go? I'm looking at University of Vermont, and thinking of majoring in sustainable agriculture.
Even if you're not young in age, feel free to join the discussion. Reminisce or tell us how we're wrong or whatever. We won't judge you (that much...).
In young people news, I was reading about a college student who got elected constable on the Green ticket in Connecticut. He wrote an interesting article about it:
Last week, I became a constable in my Connecticut hometown, representing the Green Party. I ran for constable, a government position requiring me to deliver court summonses, to highlight the significance of third parties. The United States is unique from other well-established democracies in that its political system is characterized by the relative absence of third parties. The dialogue in Congress, and consequently the dialogue portrayed in the media, is primarily between two enormous entities: Democrats and Republicans.
Not Democratic, but interesting nonetheless.
How's swine flue treating you? We're supposedly at a higher risk than those lame middle aged people. Did anyone get the vaccine here?
Are you involved in local politics? National politics? Tell us about yourself.
Personally, I'm not involved in party politics. I do volunteer work for Mike Gravel and The Democracy Foundation. I do some stuff with/for World Can't Wait. I'm trying to volunteer for HealthCare4AllPA. I'm starting a garden at my school (with the help of a few other students and a teacher and the food services director and possibly Whole Foods) to supply the cafeteria with fresh, local, (beyond) organic veggies.
So, what do you have to say? I can't think of anything else, but I'd like to get to know you.
