Response to my post of yesterday has been swift and furious (That post is included at the end of this one.)So I wonder if Daily Kos welcomes only like-minded?
My latest diary (repeated at the end for reference)on Obama’s performance, and how last ten months may be looked at positively has generated many nasty comments. Lot of anger and nastiness is directed toward use of the term "Gay Maddow", and criticism of Obama.
In spite of what some may have called me, I am a center-left independent. Because I have no party affiliation, or heavy ideological leaning, I call them as I see them.
I like Rachel Maddow’s show, and probably have watched more of her shows than most Daily Kos visitors. I believe use of "gay" was not derogatory. In fact many organizations for gay rights use the term in their name (e.g. Gay Activists Alliance, Gay Liberation Front). The intent was to draw contrast, Maddow vs Coulter. It seems some of us are very sensitive.
Many Obama supporters have expressed their disappointment with his performance to date. Any casual reader of Huff Post and other sites would know that. So my comment is not outrageous.
It is likely that people who write mean comments do not want moderates on Daily Kos, or they think civilized disagreement is not possible.
Here is the good news. The poll accompanying my yesterday's post shows 40% of the readers agree, more or less, with me.
If the left wants to win elections in the future it will have to listen to the moderates. I don’t think Daily Kos wants only liberal version of Dittoheads on this site

Yesterday's post
I am disappointed with Obama. He has practically sold folks to the Wall Street, is afraid of taking bold steps in Afghanistan because of politics, and has shown no leadership on healthcare reform.
But, it is better to have;
Ineffective Obama than moron Bush
Goofy Biden than crook Cheney
Steely Hillary than wonky Condi
Crazy liberals than asshole conservatives
Ruling left than ruining right
Gay Maddow than bitch Coulter
Gray NYT than Greedy WSJ
Reform than status quo
Friends than enemies
Clean air than polluted air
You get the picture.
