Once again, we get a rec-listed diary that carries water for President Obama and his administration.
What a shame.
Joe Avarosis at AMERICAblog has detailed repeatedly how the Obama administration has backtracked on campaign promises to the LGBT community.
THAT was a shame -- by President Obama.
Now we get Democrat's working to suppress women's rights, and it doesn't seem like the Obama administration is going to work to bring these people back into line.
THAT is a shame.
But, the real shame lies here, with all of the people who simply do like their conservative counterparts -- look the other way when it's "their" guy.
Glenn Greenwald has been writing about the abuses of the Bush administration for years. Now that the Obama administration is in office, and continuing many of the Bush-era doctrines, he is writing about that.
The response here at DK was to try and attack Glenn Greenwald (and Amy Goodman at Democracy Now! simply because it was on her show that Greenwald made his remarks about DK cheerleading).
Did liberals suddenly get amnesia? Did you forget all of the complaining about finding the TRUTH about Bush you wanted your Democratic Party to do once in power? But, now that the truth is that it is YOUR guy that is covering for Bush-era crimes, perpetuating some of them, and breaking campaign promises, well, you simply can't be bothered with the truth.
It's an "inconvenient truth", isn't it.
Republican's are going to lie, cheat and steal. The GOP went to wingnut crazy land. THAT is why those Independent voters suddenly jumped between 2004 and 2008.
But Sen. Obama promised change. He promised to take on the same people he is now coddling and working behind closed doors with. He promised to stop illegal activity and close Guantanamo prison, but, he wants to keep the same lawlessness at Bagrahm AB in Afghanistan. He promised to be a fierce champion of the LGBT community, but, he isn't.
He isn't "as bad" as a Republican, or John McCain with Sarah Palin. That doesn't change the fact that he IS screwing people over that he campaigned to defend and is silently keeping a status quo in our government.
We know that Republican supporters are stupid. They are bots that spew whatever Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh, Malkin, Krauthammer, or O'Reilly tell them. But, we thought YOU were better than they were, that you would use your brains and not follow blindly.
If you want to cry about sources in the comments, you should have been reading the people who actually report things to begin with, or, learn what teh google is on the internet. Go find it. It is out there in abundance.
What is the real shame? That there are people on "the left" that are no better at using their brains than people on "the right".
Did you really think Markos wouldn't sign on to boycott the Obama administration after their lack of support for the very people they claimed to champion? Did you really think that Markos wanted to be seen as a puppet of "the left"? If you did, you didn't watch him, read him, or listen to him.
He was a Republican, at one time. He is a veteran. He's got a brain, and, uses it (even if I disagree with him at times).
There is right and wrong. THAT goes beyond a political party. SOME people don't "get it".
THAT is a shame.
