A little nostalgia today, as we pause to give thanks to YOU for your contributions to SMHRB - and yes, this is a near duplicate of a diary I posted some time back... but I promise you'll enjoy it if you just follow me over the jump.
Good Morning, CodeTalker here, your SMHRB Host of the day. Since Claude opened up the floor for our great experiment as the UID SMHRB and invited Guest Hosts to take a turn, a notable round of names has taken a turn, and each has done a magnificent job, so here's the Honor Roll (please hold your applause until they're all listed):
rincewind and boatgeek - who published our first-ever dual-host diary.
Leo in NJ - who is full of great tips and solid advice.
playtonjr - who winged it at the last moment. (Nice save!)
exlrrp - who became our first-ever Guest Editor by dint of multiple turns at the helm.
DisNoir36 - who took us to the bathroom.
Ninepatch - who got us stuck on us, and everything else.
CJB - who gave us all a round of thanks, something we need to do from time to time.
TerribleTom - who in his first attempt as a guest host brought us "Back to Basics".
Milly Watt - writing as the homeowner in a green house-building project.
Bronx59 - writing in the spirit of a 20's vintage, brick Bronx apartment house.
Since then, almost everyone has even come back for other turns at the wheel - which deserves even more mojo, IMO - sharing what they know, bringing lively topics and great discussions, and mostly keeping the spirit of SMHRB going, and going, and going...
There will be others, I hope - in fact, this is also a plea for more of you to sign up and take a turn hosting, because after today, I have NOTHING lined up and scheduled, and I can't believe that none of you has anything left to contribute, or a little time to post it early on a Saturday morning! Please, leave a comment below, pick a date, and give it a whirl - it ain't that hard to do, and we'll all benefit, I promise.
Now, one tip I need to pass along, about the virtues of patience. We rarely need to rush into a project; I mean, how many times does the faucet actually blow off the sink, leaving a fountain of water? (In my case, twice!) Most of the time, we have time, and I suggest you use it wisely - do some research with teh Google, look up what others have tried, and even catalog what items are offered for sale in that area. Even when we have to take our cars in for repairs, try to get an idea about what's wrong first, because every time you deal with a mechanic and you have a pretty good idea what's happened, you have a better chance of getting a good repair and not getting ripped off - simply because you know what you're talking about BEFORE you bring it in.
It's not that hard, and I do it as a matter of course - it's a habit I picked up many, many years ago (yeah, I feel that old). Remember, a few minutes to do your research might save you labor, or money, or materials, later on, when you tackle that sticky project.
Having said that, let me get my nose out of here and open up the floor! Please applaud now, for YOU, the intrepid adventurers who took the helm and sailed the DIY/HowTo ship SMHRB - this HOORAH! is for you........ THANK YOU, ONE AND ALL!!!!!!!
