With all the good news that came out of last night polls for John McCain in New Jersey and Virginia. The news keep coming out for John McCain. In a new Texas poll, Perry barely beats a generic democrat by just 1% point. Even though Obama still has a negative 11pt, which is nearly equal to his election night results, his approval is higher than Governor Good hair.
Job Approval / Disapproval
Pres. Obama: 41 / 52
Gov. Perry: 36 / 44
Sen. Hutchison: 39 / 27
See those numbers. Kay here has a net approval of 12 pts. Perry has a net disapproval of 36%. Interesting. Do democrats have a functioning party in Texas? If so, there are massive opportunities for pick up there. Either Governorship or Senate.
2010 Governor: Republican Primary
42% Rick Perry, 30% Kay Bailey Hutchison. 7% Debra Medina
2010 Governor: Democratic Primary
19% Kinky Friedman, 10% Tom Schieffer, 3% Mark Thompson, 5% Ronnie Earle,
2% Felix Alvarado, .3% Hank Gilbert
Look, perry crushes Kay in the republican primary. But, I wonder. I just wonder if Kay can pull a Specter or pull a Scozzafava? And the numbers on that side are very interesting...
2010 Governor: General Election
34% Perry, 33% Generic Democrat, 8% Generic third party
36% Hutchison, 25% Generic Democrat, 9% Third party
36% Perry, 25% Schieffer, 11% Third party
40% Hutchison, 20% Schieffer, 10% Third party
38% Perry, 23% Friedman, 15% Third party
41% Hutchison, 21% Friedman, 12% Third party
38% Perry, 21% Earle, 12% Third party
42% Hutchison, 18% Earle, 10% Third party
Perry barely beats a generic democrat here. +1pt. Hutchison beats a gen democrat by +10pts. Only if she can find a way past the republican primary. I've said it before and I will say it again, this race is going to be interesting, and I wish the democrats would find a way to field big guns here. There is definitely a possibility for another NY-23.
Perry is only +3 Corzine. So, the democratic machine better be preparing this.
