She is a Canadian born naturalized US citizen that writes about the Canadian health care system and is AGAINST Universal Health Care. She believes in "limited government" also. Why a diary about her? NPR has a story on its website from the National Revue written by her. http://www.npr.org/...
We can look forward to "Medicare for All" being a reality with long waiting lists, rationed care, higher taxes, and fewer doctors practicing medicine. This is not a good scenario for our health.
I personally do not think "Medicare for All" is a bad thing or that her scenarios will happen. Ms. Pipes’ vision of our government and what Americans should or should not have is just that-her opinion. The audacity of pretending to know what is best for the American people is to me "pycho talk". Until you have walked a mile in my shoes (my being the poor and uninsured citizens) you should shut up.
Does she know what it is like to have to wait until you are so sick you have to go to the emergency room?
Does she know what it is like to then get prescriptions that you cannot pay for after the sample meds run out?
She also thinks that the health care system is not broke-so it does not need fixing! Yes-the Health Insuance companies are doing it right-why bother?

The irony is that private insurance works well where it's least regulated. To find the unaffordable disasters, you must head to states such as New York or New Jersey that have pioneered the reforms Obama is peddling for the entire country.
People are simply gaming the system. Since they can acquire insurance any time, regardless of health, why pay the premium in times of good health?
This is the future of ObamaCare executed by a liberal Congress whose leaders long for a government-dominated system.
Back in December, 2008 she wrote an article saying that "Obama will ration your health care". It’s as though she has every reason not to have health care reform and no solutions that will contribute to helping solve the problem. Also in this article she tears into Tom Daschle:
Mr. Daschle and the Democrats have spent years developing both the policy and political strategy to make the final push for taxpayer-financed universal health insurance. They have the players on the field, a crisis providing a sense of urgency, and a playbook filled with lessons learned from years of health policy reform disasters -- most recently that of HillaryCare in 1994.

Anyone who is not a part of the solution and believes in the "Insurers" and that they will do right by Americans when it comes to health care is confused and lives in another dimension. This is more of a rant, I am angry that NPR or any media can take her seriously.
