This will be short and anything but sweet...
So, as we currently are aware... it appears that the HCR bill will include the following:
- personal mandates
- NO Public Option
- NO employer mandates
- NO medicare buy-in
- NO limits on insurance premiums
- Perhaps some limits on insurance companies ability to exclude coverages
If those are all true, what we will end up with is skyrocketing health insurance costs that we are FORCED to pay. And those costs will all be going to benefit the insurance companies.
Can anyone explain to me how this helps a single person in this country?
And taking a larger view... if this is the final form of the HCR bill, won't people be REALLY unhappy with congress and the Obama administration when they are redistributing their wealth to the insurance company executives?
If the stories are to be believed, Rahm (and by proxy, probably Obama) are pushing congress to "Get something passed".
Why would they be pushing so hard? Presumably because they see it as a political necessity to get HCR passed ASAP. They are acting as if their political lives are over if nothing is passed.
But... are they considering what may happen if what is passed is worse than the status quo?
If people are indeed forced to bear the brunt of skyrocketing insurance costs, while executives of insurance companies laugh all the way to the bank... isn't that political death as well?
Or am I missing some critical piece of the political game that is being played with everyone's future?
