I'm watching him trying to explain what he's for and against public option, medicare buy in, healthcare reform, Now Collins is talking saying she would like to see a healthcare bill, but not the current bill.
Is this more stalling or a break in the stonewall?
Has the bill gotten to be so good for the insurance companies that they are now licking their chops anticipating all those new customers coming with no checks and balances, no regulation, just money, money, money?
I've been following all this as carefully as I can, I see some people happy, others disgusted, a few suspicious, and positions so flexible that they can be 180 degrees out in an hour and then go back to where they were before.
Some say Healthcare reform is going to happen now or never. Others claim that whats proposed now really isn't reform at all, its worse than before. Maybe the middle of the road position is that this bill has a lot of good things in it and just getting anything passed is a start.
I guess my question is how much of the Lieberman news is caused by carrots and how much by sticks. Whats left in the bill, What about the reconcilliation with the House? I don't even know who still has a voice in the decision making process.
What sort of deals having nothing to do with healthcare but maybe defense contracts for Connecticut, or Israel is Harry Reed making? Why is Senator Collins happy, what more does she want? Of the 2000 pages in the bill how many reforms remain? I'd love to see a list and some chance for us to have input on the final version before the deal is done.
