when it’s Democrats fucking us now.
For those who insist on content: The Senate "compromise" that is emerging as worse than nothing. It enacts a government mandate to force Americans to fork over thousands of dollars a year to much-hated health insurance leeches for shitty health insurance.
A family of four earning $54,000/year can expect to pay $9,000/year in premiums and out of pocket expense. That’s nearly 20% of their take-home pay. On average. Affordable? You do the math.
The same family of four with a couple of kids with a chronic condition, like diabetes, can expect to pay $14,000/year (and under some common loop-holed circumstances, much more) for that same government-mandated healthcare package.
This bill is horrible on politics. It’s horrible on economics, both macro (selling out real reform does nothing to solve the impending health care crisis in the US which taxes the economy more and more each year) or micro (again, do the math, above).
This bill is worse than nothing, as it will undermine real reform efforts in the future all the while delivering nothing but a mandated taxpayer subsidy of the hated Health Insurance industry today. This is the worst that incrementalism has to offer, and will destroy Democratic credibility on this issue for a generation.
Please call your Senators and encourage them to vote no.
