If I recall, the only reason health care is being discussed at all this year is because the president made it priority one of his domestic legislation.
There's been lot of name-calling today. Mostly against the president. But if Barack Obama is so awful, then what does that make you?
I mean, after all, you spent 2 plus years promoting him, donating to him and other democrats. So, again, what does that make you?
What is laughable is how many people are outraged - OUTRAGED!! - that corporate interests are being served in this process.
Where have you been?
As a nation, we've always served corporate interests. This country's founding documents/principles (and principals) were all about serving wealthy landowners. Monied interests have always been served first, since Day 1.
The only difference now is that, instead of just affecting the poor and working class, the corporate vise is affecting too much of the middle class.
So now, it's a problem. Yippee, the larger populace has finally taken notice.
When it's just the fringes of society getting screwed, no one cares.
[Yes, I know many of you have been fighting for the rights of the underprivileged for years. But most here haven't. Most here have been perfectly fine with the status quo. Until now.]
The current president's style is often compared to LBJ's style. But a key difference between LBJ's time and now is that LBJ could turn on his television and see the battered and bloodied bodies of protestors who were willing to take to the streets to fight for what they want.
Keyboard protestor just doesn't give the same effect.
