When Democrats decided that they were going to work to help Obama win the 2008 election, many things were expected. We expected him to actually work hard to improve the economy. So far, he is only passed a watered down, useless stimulus plan and has done almost nothing else. We expected him to use his leadership and a 60 seat Democratic majority to pass healthcare reform. He has been almost absent on that front as well.
With everything that the Democratic party invested as well as the rent they are paying for him to be in office which equals the seat loss in the 2010 midterm elections, he was supposed to deliver. We didnt risk and give up so much just to have another George W. Bush in the White House. If we wanted that, we could have just let McCain win.
I have long run out of patience on this President's complete absense of leadership on almost every domestic issue. He has simply taken too many trips out of the country for a President who should be 100% focused on domestic issues. He should not even be thinking about Afghanistan right now. He should be thinking about how people are hurting at home.
This reminds me of George H.W. Bush who seemed not to care about about domestic issues like the economy and poverty and simply focused on international issues. Obama has an economy far worse than the one that George H.W. had and he simply cannot afford to be taking this path.
We all worked very, very hard for the Democrats to regain Congress in 2006 and build on those majorities in 2008 and this President know seems intent on throwing it all away. Well, I am sorry, but we should not suffer for his indifference.
If this President cannot do his job, I suggest that he step aside and let someone else do it.
Unfortunately, we have almost three more years of this bad investment.
