a bunch of Republiacan attorneys general announced they will go after the sweetheart deal Nelson got for Nebraska, they claim it's unconstitutional.
I fully support their effort and I say bring 'em on.
Attorney General Henry McMaster said he and his counterparts in Alabama, Colorado, Michigan, North Dakota, Texas and Washington state — all Republicans — are jointly taking a look at the deal they've dubbed the "Nebraska compromise."
"The Nebraska compromise, which permanently exempts Nebraska from paying Medicaid costs that Texas and all other 49 states must pay, may violate the United States Constitution — as well as other provisions of federal law," Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said.
For a while I was thinking about the disparity of liberal states subsidizing
the Republican states, I hope they succeed so that we can stop the flow of borrowed money to Alaska, the South and other anti Federal government states.
As an analysis in Slate put it.
Essentially, the Northeast—for my definition here, I use New England plus New Jersey and New York—subsidizes the federal government to a massive degree. Incomes are far higher in the Northeast—and the equally Democratic West Coast—than they are in other regions. Meanwhile, many other regions—say, the South and the Great Plains—subsist on federal largesse. On a per capita basis, those in the Northeast pay far more taxes and receive far fewer benefits than people in other regions.
While I fully support their effort to strip Nelson of his deal, after he already cast his vote, I hope such a positive outcome will even the divide further, making you rednecks dole out more for your wars.
