I spent six years in despair and loneliness. I decided this past summer, that I will do it no more. I've wanted to go back to college for a few years now, and I am looking to do so
Back in 2002, I got kicked out of Rutgers for poor grades (I let personal and financial problems). While the University said I could return if I behaved myself academically, I took the past few years to think about if Rutgers (as a good as a school as it is) is the right school for me. At 28, I'm not the same person that I was at 21, so I am thinking that maybe I have outgrown Rutgers.
So last year, I looked at Loren Pope's book, Looking beyond the Ivy League, and it made me realize what a good education is and is worth. Rutgers is a great school, but I am asking myself can I do better?
I started looking into a few smaller liberal arts colleges in the Northeast, Midwest, and West Coast, and came up with 20 schools that really appeal to me and what I want to do (graduate school in either literature or history, which is something more than one person has said I should be doing.)
Here's the list (nothing set in stone)
Northeast
Amherst
Williams
Swarthmore
Haverford
Bard
Vassar
Bates
Bowdoin
Marlboro
Middlebury
Bennington
Midwest
Grinnell
Oberlin
Kenyon
Carleton
Macalester
Miami University of Ohio
West
Pomona
Pitzer
Reed
Basically, i figured with all the talk about change and progress, this would be the perfect time for me do change, grow, and improve myself, once I had my.
If there are any graduates of these schools, I certainly will welcome input, or anyone who returned to school (or is returning to school) after a long hiatus (4+ years).
