Hello everyone, I haven't posted a diary or comment in a while, but I've been lurking. Maybe someone here with a little Google expertise can help me or a little Maureen Dowd/NYT expertise can shed some light.
Late on Sunday night I published a post, EPIC FAIL: MAUREEN DOWD (NYT) GOES IN ON DESIREE ROGERS AND TIGER WOODS, which was my critique of Maureen Dowd's, Lady and the Tiger. I started with:
I guess Maureen Dowd's editor didn't have time to review her latest column, The Lady and the Tiger. It was a nonsensical, catty, AND petty attempt to slam Desiree Rogers and Tiger Woods. The phrase to best describe the piece is simply "WTF?".
And ended with:
I am still shocked about nature of the personal attacks. Ms. Dowd, what did they ever do to you?!?! "It was the assertion of personal privilege by Tiger and Desiree that was so off-putting." Really? In what way compared to other politicians, celebrities, and numerous privileged persons who have been involved in scandals? The New York Times obviously has some job openings and is in need of columnists. Maureen, before you write your next (strikethrough) vicious drivel (strikethrough) interesting commentary, could you put in a word for me. Thanks. XOXOXO
So you get my drift. Anyway, I received alot of direct traffic from that post (mainly from Google searches) for the next day and a half then the traffic for that post suddenly died off. So I went to my website's admin tools and googled the previous search queries where I ranked high (at least the top ten) and received the previously mentioned direct traffic. My blog post URL was no longer showing up in Google. I did a variety of searches (ex. "chocolate chiq maureen dowd" "epic fail maureen dowd") and still the actual URL was not showing up anymore. Although I did see a couple of entries like my twitter status that had name of the post in it, the page which was previously ranking very high was no longer there.
I was so pissed that I wrote another post today: Critique of the Maureen Dowd's Desiree/Tiger Drivel Yanked from Google? (which has a some more info on my problem) and posted to the google Webmaster forum.
Ok, so I am a little mad because I thought it was a very good critique, ranked high on the google result list and had received some positive feedback on the post. So why is has this particular URL disappeared from Google? Any chance someone at the Grey Lady was pissed or is it just a hiccup in a big machine? Is there a chance someone else asked to have it removed? Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks, and sorry I'm so wordy.
***updated***
I know this is probably only a big deal to me, but the url now showing in the google search results. My search results are also showing the experimental "promote" and "remove" buttons...I wonder how those affect search results. Anyway, thanks for listen.
