You know how the movie Brazil seems to have a happy ending, with Sam Lowry (the protagonist) getting rescued by the resistance right before he's about the get tortured by the government? But then, we find that Sam has in fact gone insane, that he was never rescued, that he was in fact tortured, and that it was all a feverish fantasy inside his mind?
Karl Rove is insane.
Over the past month, House Republicans have used the stimulus bill to redefine their party, present ideas on how to revive the economy, and force congressional Democrats and the president to take ownership of the spending programs soon to be signed into law.

House Republicans had the wisdom to continue to talk to the Obama White House. This made them look gracious, even as the president edged toward a “my way or the highway” attitude.
Next week, we'll hear from Rove about how Judd Gregg's acceptance of the Commerce post and subsequent backing out made him look "gracious" as well, and how the American people will weep in gratitude for the GOP's continued obstructionism of that terrible Obama and his loathsome Democratic Congressional allies.
Just don't ask for any hard evidence for the you-know-what he's pulling out of you-know-where.
Losing two big elections in a row, thanks to his own handiwork, has clearly been too much of a strain for Rove, and his poor mind couldn't handle the shock. So like Sam Lowry, Rove would rather create fantasies than deal with reality.
And it's frackin' hilarious.
