At a town hall meeting in Ft. Myers, FL, President Obama fielded a question from a young man named Julio Osegueda:
The media sensation that followed has caused Democratic Party leaders and liberal activists to spring into action.
First was the rebranding. "Julio Osegueda" was deemed "not American enough" for people to relate to, so the decision was made to recast him as "Ozzie the Fry Cook." The fact that he's not actually a fry cook (he's run the station a few times, but he' really an assistant manager) was glossed over.
Top figures from within the Progressive Movement have begun singing Ozzie the Fry Cook's praises, and he will be traveling to Washington, DC soon to advise Democratic congressional staffers on strategy and communications.
"Ozzie the Fry Cook" is expected to go on tour with President Obama, appearing with him at rallies and town halls.
Following that, it looks like Ozzie will be heading towards a lucrative career as an online TV news reporter for a left-wing blogring, heading overseas to cover wars and occupations with a real liberal perspective, without the media filter distorting facts.
Books, countless television appearances, and a rap album have all been suggested as possible follow-up steps he might take. (His publicist is already hard at work...stay tuned!)
All this is apparently a sign of how seriously the Democratic Party takes "ordinary Americans who have dreams of business success, and not some sick idea of a pander-fest with undertones of anti-populist scorn for the working class.
And while the elitist conservative media has tried to tear Ozzie down because they're afraid of hearing from REAL Americans, those of us who know better are eying the 2010 Congressional elections in Florida's 14th district with a new chant on our lips: Run, Ozzie, Run!
God bless America.
