To be perfectly clear, I'd rather have my arms slowly ripped from their sockets that to be afflicted with the present Republican viewpoint. We've already seen where that train goes.
With that said, I'm trying to figure out just how bad the Democratic party is. For the last couple of months, the party to which I vowed I would never give money to again, but did anyway, has treated me to a steady diet of corruption, chicken-shittery, and monumental stupidity.
At least the republicans are up front about what they are not going to do for you, but that is offset by having to listen to them tell us how we are wrong every time they screw up.
As for the democrats? I don't know what to expect from these fucking clowns.
Burris has added to my objective view or reality, but he deserves no praise from me. It was unintended on his part, just a side effect of the way he lives his life.
The first thing he taught me was that the team who vetted Sarah Palin were rocket scientists compared to Rahm Emanuel. The other thing he taught me is that the government is like a bug light in the night for all types of stupid people, not just tax cheats.
Did you think nobody would find out, Burris?
Fucking retard.
I think Obama's stated policy of openness is noble, but I'm not sure letting the media handle vetting is a winning strategy. The thing is, I don't feel like giving it time to play out to see if it has merit. The honeymoon has abruptly ended for me.
Mind you, I didn't decide that on my own; it was thrust upon me. There is no soft peddling it anymore. I can continue to tisk-tisk these things and fool myself into believing that everything will work out fine. The fact is, everything that was important to me... every change I looked for with a new government has been shot down in just under one month.
We have more, not less troops going to fight overseas.
We have a president actively fighting against investigating the worst acts this country has ever committed.
Mr. President, can't we just find out which laws were broken? I'm thinking that letting the suspected injustices stand uninvestigated actually qualifies as an act of... what? What good do you think will come of it? Do you think it will forever remain a secret?
You seemed so smart.
Why are you letting Geithner do what he is doing? Right down the line, every economist who predicted the crisis we find ourselves it says Geithner is screwing around wasting time trying to figure out how to rip off that taxpayer. No one on your economic team saw this coming so what on God's green earth makes you think they see a way out? Why won't you listen to the people who know?
What would you do if video tapes surfaced showing Osama Bin Laden being repeatedly turned away at the gates of CIA headquarters as he tried to turn himself in? Would you be mildly upset? The reason I ask is because a comparable thing happened at the SEC over a span of 8 years, and you don't seem particularly annoyed. Is it that you don't want to send any strong messages through actions? Would it set a bad precedent?
I realize that you are not obligated to listen to your constituents, but your sponsors are eating themselves and you along with them.
That even-handed stuff you have been saying? Well, in case Rahm is handling the information you receive, I just wanted to point out that Israel just took big step toward seizing some more of the West Bank, so you might want to say something since the rest of the world is looking for you to back your words with deeds. You don't actually have to do anything; just pretend you are campaigning and say things that you think people want to hear.
Mind you, I'm not blaming you for anything; you are just symptomatic of the general problem. You are letting the calculus of politics shut out the logic of doing what is right. If that was a crime, why we would have to shut down all of government and start fresh.
I hope nobody thinks I'm being cynical. I'm just calling it like I see it, and doing so without hyperbole. I would love to be proven wrong, but don't tell me I must buy into all this Hope bullshit. Hope doesn't run my farm, and hope doesn't run my country.
You hope for good health; you don't hope for good government. Do you think they would put up with this shit in France? Do you want to know why they have universal health coverage there? Because they don't put up with anything less.
