TPM has just posted that Norm Coleman is now suggesting a do-over. We all know this is what his lawyers were gunning for all this time.
Screw that.
"What does the court do?" Norm asked rhetorically. "Yeah, you know some folks are now talking about simply saying run it again, just run it again."
"Have another statewide election?" Wilkow asked.
Coleman responded: "You know the St. Paul Pioneer Press is...one of the second largest papers in the state, last week [they] said we're never going to figure this out, just run it again. So you start hearing that. Ultimately the court has to make a determination, can they confirm, can they certify who got the most legally cast votes?"
That's such a bad precedent to start, it's not even funny. But you all knew it was coming to this, after WineRev's 86+ diaries on the subject where Norm's team has already looked so desperate that the only explanation to all of this was they were trying to sow so much confusion on the process that the only way to make them shut the hell up was a do-over election.
We need to put an end to this now. Take control of the narrative, get someone out there saying, "The GOP is playing dirty, there is nothing wrong with the process, Coleman is desperate." We need to donate to Al's lawyers.
The hypocrisy of the Republicans - in 2000 they wanted to put an end to a recount and for sure would not have considered a do-over election in Florida - which had an even worse process.
Then Norm Coleman saying after Nov. 4 that if he ended up behind, he would have conceded so as to not waste any more money and the state's time on this.
It's getting ridiculous, and while we sit here and laugh at the GOP, they are trying to stir up some fake outrage over shennanigans they are pulling.
No more. Take your loss like a man, Coleman and follow the rule of law. You know, the one that your party supposedly wants everyone to follow to the letter? The one that your lawyers keep trying to skate around?
