Fans of the "Andy Griffith Show" will undoubtedly remember the strange and not very smart character, Gomer Pyle. Is Senator Jim DeMint a new version of Gomer Plye, 4 decades later?
Doesn't Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina remind you of Gomer Pyle from the old "Andy Griffith Show"? Just listen to him, "Hi! I'm Jim DeMint!" He sounds and kind of looks like Gomer Pyle. He really does. Doesn't he?
And he's essentially no smarter than poor Gomer. Among his many "brilliant" statements, DeMint once said that single mothers who live with their boyfriends should be prohibited from teaching in public schools.
Last year, "Gomer" DeMint also cited the "prevalence of certain diseases among homosexuals" as his reason for opposing gay marriage. DeMint was also ranked by National Journal as the most conservative United States Senator in their March, 2007 conservative/liberal rankings,[3] and again in 2008.
Listening to the drivel coming from DeMint's mouth, especially with his nutty comments yesterday at CPAC, he sounded very similar to Gomer Pyle in that episode of "Andy Griffith" when Gomer tries to get revenge on Deputy Barney Fife. "Citizen's Arrest! Citizens Arrest!"
Gomer Pyle=Jim DeMint. One and the same? Two peas in a pod? Separated at birth?
