Those entertainers at the American Family Association (AFA) are up to it once again, poor grammar and all. Please suspend disbelief to read what they post.
By the way, the AFA are a 403(c) nonprofit group, meaning that any income is exempt from tax, any property (including cars and real estate, such as big acreage for "churches") is exempt from tax, and that they can say anything, except for endorsing a particular candidate for office, exempt from tax. This site, dailykos, is NOT exempt from tax, and I am sure that Markos is careful to make sure that the tax forms are prepared properly. Imagine if you could do anything and own anything, without any taxes. Nice work if you can find it.
The first one is actually issued by the group itself. As is the recent custom, the actual quote is in bold, with a link, my take in is italics, and comments from their responders are in normal, within quotation marks.
I copy and paste, not transcribe, so any errors are on their part, not mine.
Here we go (as Tommy said in 1969).
Obama nominates pro-p*rn, pro-abortion lawyer for the number 2 position in the office of the Attorney General
Phone calls need now!
I do not know what phone calls need, but obviously they need it now. I need now a fresh drink, but not a phone call. Since this was one of their well thought out action alerts, no comments were available. I did love the grammar.
Obama's choice for #2 spot at Justice worries conservatives
This is all about Ogden's nomination. Since he represented some adult publications and the dreaded ACLU, he is poison. The lone comment is:
"Good article. Do not be fooled. Everyone involved in abortion is psychologically and emotionally impacted. I should have 3 more children on this earth and now that I have grandchildren I am so ate up with guilt and sorrow about the death I have paid for it's hard to live with it at times. This Ogden is a nut bag liberal that does not think about what he is saying...bottom line it hurts and only God can forgive the act! The government is not the answer."
It is difficult to understand the flow of the comment. I seems that the person is attempting to express regret for having multiple abortions, but the number and verb do not agree, and the clause about paying for it is obscure. Any attempt at deciphering it would be welcome.
Democrats want to raise - but not pay - taxes
This one about the certifiably insane Representative Lynn Westmoreland, a Republican from Georgia. He is a master of the language. From the article he is quoted as saying:
"If you go back and look at some of the quotes Daschle has used when he was the majority leader in the Senate -- talking about people who had not paid their taxes, people who had took...."
I tried to find "took" in the dictionary as a collective noun, like "elk" or "sheep". I had no luck. If anyone knows what a "took" or two or more "took" are, please enlighten me. Obviously he was referring to something tangible, because no Representative would every use incorrect grammar, unless that Representative is ignorant of the rules of the English language.
Here are a few of the comments:
"If Democrats would pay their taxes, there would be no recession and no need for them to rob the workers through the so called stimulus package."
"Typical liberal socialist thinking, you pay I play!"
"I always thought it was more patriotic to want less or no taxes... Boston Tea Party anyone?"
I especially like the last one. I wonder if that individual would do away with Social Security, the military, roads, schools (well, that ilk would love to do away with schools), or anything else that she or he uses on a daily basis?
All the president's tax cheats
Of course, the AFA has Michelle Malkin as a regular contributor. What is surprising about that? She babbles about how so many of the potential appointees to the Cabinet were tainted. I maintain that she is, but that is just my personal opinion.
One comment was odd, and I can not understand it.
"It is good to see the 'real' Obama. He is just a man; some some higher power the media made him off to be. Too bad he can't appreciate the hard word Bush did."
What does this mean? "Some some..."? "... hard word...?"
This in the end of the AFA section, now just Translator expressing his thoughts. Folks, these illiterates vote every election. They never miss one. We have to continue going to the polls as well.
I just filled out my absentee ballot application for the entire year, and intend to spend my stamp to return each and every ballot sent to me. The only way that we can defeat ignorance and bigotry is to make our progressive voices heard.
Any insights, comments, and suggestions are always welcome.
Warmest regards,
Doc
