I was especially saddened to learn about the passing of Dewey Martin, drummer of the Buffalo Springfield the group responsible for the war protest song For What it’s Worth, which launched the careers of Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay and Jim Messina. Dewey passed away of unknown causes on Saturday, Jan. 31st.
Before joining the Buffalo Springfield, Dewey was briefly a member of my group, the Standells Dirty Water. I have always felt that Dewey was a real talent and have often wondered why he didn’t quite reach the acclaim of his peers. There will always be a special place in my heart for Dewey. He will be missed. RIP Dewey.
