Today was a report from Sport Illustrated that A-Rod who played for the Texas Rangers in 2003(MVP) was dirty with steroids. This is in my opinion a huge story because of A-Rod was/is the face of MLB. There has been a dirty period in all sports, some more covered than others, but this has a big black eye on MLB because A-Rod is now A-Roid. Barry Bond was thought of as the poster child of steroids, but when it turned out the franchise of baseball is dirty people can now pulled their head out the sand and understand this is a bigger problem than a few. There is a video from 60 Minutes of A-Roid saying he never used steroids or thought about using steroids. This video will be played over and over again and probably hurt A-Roid like it did Palmeiro. If A-Roid ever get in the Hall of Fame so should everybody else.
First off i thought it was ironic that the Bush Administration made Barry Bonds the face of steroids problem in the MLB and turn out A-Roid who was playing for the Texas Rangers(2003) a team owned by George W Bush was dirty. So here are some MLB problems 1.When Barry Bonds broke Hank Aaron record for the most homeruns it was thought A-Rod would come alone beat Barry Bonds record so that a "clean player" can restore honor to that record, however with this breaking news the baseball commissioner will now have to rehabilitate the image of MLB. 2. Now this problem is huge for A-Roid, his chances for being inducted to the Baseball Hall of Fame has now ended. Why? Because of the players that are assumed to have taken steroids: Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro, Mark McGwire, Canseco and Roger Clemens will not be in the Hall of Fame because of steroid use, so what they do to others must be done to A-Roid. A-Roid my new name for him is at the beginning of his career while the others players were at the end of their, so how will this affect his mind knowing no matter what awards or titles he has it will be look at as tainted, so what's the point? No Hall of Fame shot and tainted awards hmmmmm i guess it will be all about the money. I watched on ESPN just a while ago saying this going ruin his Hall of Fame chances, so not my opinion, but the thought of sports writers and analysts. 3. This is a steroid era so should we throw out all achievements and awards? MLB now have to answer all these questions.
My thoughts I'm not the biggest baseball fan but i do enjoy the game and Barry Bond is/was one of my favorite players and i thought it was unfair to blame Barry for so many problems baseball were having. The Feds went after Barry on bogus charges knowing this wasn't a Barry problem but a baseball problem. Many owners and the commissioner Bud Selig had their head in the sand while this was going on. I take some pleasure in the fact A-Roid was dirty just to prove the point steroids in baseball is not an isolated problem. Why did these players lie about their use of steroids? Because they were left out to dry, they were encourage to be faster and stronger to bring in more ratings and money. Bud Selig did not like Barry and was pushing A-Roid as the golden boy of baseball so will he now turn on A-Roid too. I personally think players records should still stand because MLB and owners allow this to happen and players should not be at fault because of loose rules in baseball. Feds should drop charges against Barry and let this day start anew with strict rules if this is what MLB wants.
