A story in the St. Louis Post Dispatch 3/6/09 said that many RCC bishops favored closing over 6oo RC hospitals should the FOCA law pass and be signed by President Obama.
You know those 40 Days For Life folks who are supposed to be praying and fasting 24/7 for 40 days to end abortion? Well, I think I will join them in praying and fasting for the next year or so, or however long it takes for the FOCA bill to pass and President Obama to sign it into law.
Oh, and BTW, what is the FOCA bill? you might ask. Answer: a bill to over ride most state laws passed in the years since Roe v. Wade that make it more and more difficult for women and families to get safe, legal abortion care in an affordable and timely manner near their home.
According the the Post-Dispatch story, many bishops and some of the hospital administrators say that this won't happen, that these hospitals will not close. Given how crazy some, in fact, most of the bishops appointed by John Paul II and the current Nazi Youth Pope are on the subject of sex and reproduction, birth control and abortion, I think that those who oppose closing the hospitals will not prevail. And quite frankly, I hope, and will pray and fast 24/7 until the bishops do close the Catholic hospitals. I can't imagine anything doing greater damage to the RCC heirarchy and devastating their membership and reducing contributions to the degree that such a stuip thing could do.
However, there is a story in today's NYTimes about the efforts of the Democratic dominated NY lege in Albany attempting to temporarily wipe out the statute of limitations on child sexual abuse. The RCC heirarchy is doing their best to defeat this, since such a thing might well banhrupt the criminal enterprise that much of the RCC heirarchy has been since the death of John XXIII and his sucessor.
Just My Humble Opinion. :-)
